Transforming spaces with light. This is our mission. Founded in 2008 by Ella Mills LEED AP, IES, Associate IALD, Biella Lighting Design is an architectural lighting firm based in Portland, Oregon. Biella is an Oregon certified WBE, ESB, and DBE. We craft timeless, creative lighting design solutions that unite energy efficiency, function and beauty. Through inspired innovation and strong technical skill, we enhance the look and feel of interior, exterior and landscaped spaces. Biella has provided lighting design services for public, higher education, commercial and residential projects across Oregon, Washington, and California. Signature projects include the new headquarters for Gerding Edlen Development, the flagship retail store for Solestruck Shoes, and the Columbia Building for Portland’s Bureau of Environmental Services. Keeping pace in an industry that is always advancing through new light sources or research, we stay challenged and motivated to craft designs that reflect each client’s vision. We are naturally client-centric, committed to collaboration and high-quality client relationships through personalized, responsive service. Biella’s services include design and documentation (concept design through completion) for lighting, daylighting and lighting controls; project management and construction administration; project focusing; and energy code and LEED documentation. In 2013, the firm’s designs for the Solestruck Shoe Boutique in Portland, Oregon and the Corporate Café in Mountain View, California received Awards of Merit for interior lighting from the National Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) and the Oregon IES Chapter.
