Biella Lighting Design is a small, Portland-based architectural lighting firm focused on transforming spaces through lighting. Founded in 2008 by Ella Mills, the practice blends design vision with technical expertise to enhance interior, exterior, and landscaped environments. It serves public, higher education, commercial, and residential projects across Oregon, Washington, and California. The firm holds Oregon certifications as a women-owned business (WBE) along with ESB and DBE statuses, situating it within the region's architecture and planning community. Notable projects include the new headquarters for Gerding Edlen Development, the flagship Solestruck Shoes store, and the Columbia Building for Portland’s Bureau of Environmental Services. The practice provides design and documentation for lighting, daylighting, and controls, along with project management and LEED documentation; in 2013, two interior lighting designs earned Awards of Merit from the National IES and the Oregon IES Chapter.
