Big Drop NYC is a premier contemporary women’s wear retailer housing independent designers and favored labels. Big Drop builds its reputation through its stylish clientele and breathes life into fashion through a personal and interactive shopping experience. Vital to the store’s image, Big Drop aims to give emerging designers exposure and maintain a constant flow of new merchandise. It is truly a one-stop shop offering clothing, jewelry, footwear, and accessories. Big drop continues to differentiate itself in the retail landscape with its distinct point of view.
The name Big Drop stems from the surf terminology of dropping to catch a wave. Since its launch, Big Drop rides on its reputation of providing a keenly curated mix of timeless staples and trendy styles. Each season, Big Drop continues to ensure their boutiques are the main wave to catch for New York’s style conscious shoppers.
Initially a men’s surf clothing shop in Manhattan. Within two years, and the opening of a second location in SoHo, the store began to carry women’s clothing. Big Drop’s focus became developing boutiques for a contemporary market and a forum for emerging designers. The company expanded its reach to the Upper East Side in 1998. In 2008 the brand expanded beyond New York opening a store in Miami Beach. Big Drop followers not only identify with the chain’s physical locations, but also with it's always-developing online extension. In 2013, Big Drop decided to expand to the Upper West Side with its newest location.
