Natural Swimming Pools, also known as Natural Swimming Ponds or NSP’s began in Europe over 40 years ago.  As the demand for environmentally sustainable options grow, so does the audience wanting an environmentally friendly swimming option.  

In the USA, BioNova has become the preeminent name for expertise in NSP’s. Some NSPs (BioSwimPonds) have the "look" of a pond, with aquatic plants contributing to the filtration and aesthetics... Other NSPs (BioPools) do not require plants, but instead mimic the biome of a river or stream using biofilm filtration.
