Birmingham Landmarks, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that owns and operates two historic theatres in downtown Birmingham: the Alabama Theatre and the Lyric Theatre. It was formed by members of the Alabama Chapter of the American Theatre Organ Society, the group that continues to care for the theatres’ Mighty Wurlitzer organ. The organization is based in Birmingham, Alabama, and functions as a steward of cultural venues in the region. The Alabama Theatre, built in 1927 by Paramount Studios, transitioned from a movie palace to a restored performance venue that seats more than 2,100 and hosts over 200 events annually. The Lyric Theatre, dating to 1913–1914, has served multiple roles and was acquired by Birmingham Landmarks in 1993; after an $11.8 million restoration, it reopened in 2016 with a 750-seat capacity to host live performances such as concerts, comedy, dance, and drama. In March 2025, Cindy Mullins was named Executive Director of Birmingham Landmarks, Inc.
