Birthright Israel Foundation is a mid-sized nonprofit based in New York, focused on fundraising to support Birthright Israel. Its aim is to ensure eligible Jewish young adults worldwide, particularly those with limited connections, have the opportunity to participate in an educational trip to Israel. The program is designed to offer this immersive experience to about 50,000 participants each year.
The organization raises funds in the United States to sustain the Birthright Israel program. Its primary beneficiaries are young Jewish adults seeking educational exposure in Israel, especially those who face barriers to access. In early 2022, Birthright Israel announced a merger with Onward Israel, expanding its program offerings, and in 2024 it launched Taking Action: Volunteer in Israel to enable volunteers aged 18 to 40 to contribute in Israel.
