BKT, Banka Kombetare Tregtare, is the largest and oldest commercial bank in Albania. Its origins go back to 1925 with the opening of a Durrës branch in the building that today houses the BKT Durrës Branch, cited as the oldest Albanian financial institution. The bank adopted its current name in 1993 after merging the Albanian Commercial Bank and the National Bank of Albania and is headquartered in Tirana with a sizeable workforce.
