Black Teacher Collaborative is an education organization focused on improving teaching effectiveness for Black students by advancing a model that centers shared racial identity in learning environments. It develops a pedagogy, professional development curriculum, and a teacher fellowship designed to enhance the skills, mindsets, and knowledge of Black educators, with the aim of boosting students’ academic growth and socio-emotional well-being. The program combines in-person and remote professional development, ongoing coaching, and blended learning modules, culminating in a capstone project after a three-year fellowship. The initiative began with a cohort of 35 fellows across six pilot sites in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Atlanta, and operates within the broader field of education administration programs. Based in Atlanta, Georgia, the organization positions itself as a driver of increased teacher impact through a focus on Black educators and students.
