The Blind Children’s Center (BCC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1938 by Southern California Delta Gammas. BCC is the only program of its kind in Los Angeles for children from birth to five years-old who are blind or visually impaired. We combine early intervention, early childhood education, and comprehensive family support services to prepare infants, toddlers, and preschoolers of all abilities to thrive. Our center-based programs bring children with vision loss, autism, disabilities, and/or complex medical conditions, together with their typically developing peers to create inclusive environments where all children can experience belonging and reach their fullest potential. Children with severe vision loss and other disabilities learn differently and require specialized services and individualized curriculum. At the same time, parents/caregivers need tools, knowledge, and support so they can foster their child’s healthy social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. BCC’s programs provide comprehensive education, health, mental health, and nutrition services, as well as coordinated therapeutic services, including sensory development, orientation and mobility, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech/language development, and braille pre-literacy skills.
