History & Mission - Founded in 1976, by Paul Lenzi and Geraldine Ann Snyder, Blue Apple Players is a nationally acclaimed nonprofit, theater company producing original educational musicals and programs that engage young people. While the artistic quality of our programs has been recognized by prestigious national foundations, publishers, and others; using the power of drama to help young people grow – academically and socially – is the real reason for what we do. Each year, our programs reach over 60,000 youth, educators, and families throughout a 10 state area, including over 8,627 teachers and more than 594 different schools. Blue Apple’s major programs include: Educational musicals - created by Blue Apple address sensitive topics such as teen pregnancy or adolescent suicide as well as American history and adaptations of folktales that present timeless values such as honesty and responsibility. Drama for Learning; Drama for Life - education workshops in over 70 schools, libraries, and community centers each year. Curricula created by our educators improve literacy and other vital academic and developmental skills. Continuing Education - programs for educators, social workers, and other professionals. Topics range from team building to custom-designed programs. A statewide program uses drama to train social workers in forensic interviewing for child abuse.
