Founded in July 2012, Boardman Bay Capital Management (“Boardman Bay”) is a technology-focused investment firm with deep expertise across public and private markets. The firm is built around an immersive, industry-driven research process designed to identify transformative shifts within complex global technology subsectors, particularly where structural change, capital intensity, and technical depth create durable opportunity.

Boardman Bay’s core public-market strategy is a long/short equity fund focused on the global technology landscape, with exposure to themes including digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and hyperscale data-center infrastructure. Complementing this strategy, the firm manages a family of Opportunity Funds—highly focused, concentrated portfolios that reflect Boardman Bay’s highest-conviction ideas and deepest domain expertise.

Since 2018, the Optical Opportunities Fund has targeted the optical component and semiconductor subsectors that form the backbone of modern data centers, AI infrastructure, and next-generation compute architectures. The optical industry is undergoing rapid structural change, driven by consolidation, accelerating bandwidth and power demands, and the maturation of silicon photonics, which is increasingly converging with advanced semiconductor design and packaging.

Since 2015, Boardman Bay has also invested directly in private technology companies through a series of separately managed special purpose vehicles (SPVs). Through Boardman Bay Ventures, the firm has acted as a lead investor, strategic partner, and board participant across more than ten venture investments and series-level vehicles. Notable investments and exits include Ayar Labs, Groq, Credo (CRDO), Elenion, and Grab (GRAB).
