The Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation operates a scholarship program aimed at inspiring middle school students to plan for higher education. Unlike many scholarship programs that focus on high school juniors or seniors, BBYF awards the promise of a college scholarship to eighth-grade students just before they enter high school, with the intent of shaping their educational trajectory. Based in Fort Worth, Texas, the foundation serves more than 36,000 students across 22 public school districts and three charter schools in north Texas. Over the past two decades, it has awarded scholarships to 658 students. As of fall 2013, 98% of the scholarship recipients from 1992–2013 progressed to college after high school.
