Boone REMC is an electric utility cooperative based in Lebanon, Indiana, serving more than 10,000 members across Boone, Clinton, Hamilton, Hendricks, and Montgomery counties. The cooperative maintains over 1,186 miles of power lines to supply rural areas, suburbs, and some of the largest employers in Boone County. Members are both customers and owners, and the cooperative is governed by a nine-member board elected from among its members. It operates within the utilities sector and provides electricity to its service territory. The structure reflects a member-owned model in which those who buy electricity participate in governance and oversight. In March 2020, Boone REMC temporarily closed its Lebanon office in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
