Borsalino is the oldest Italian manufacturer focused on luxury hats, with production dating back to 1857 in Alessandria, Piedmont. Its work blends an industrial approach with artisanal craftsmanship, evident in felt hats that require more than 50 manual steps and several weeks of processing, and in straw models that are hand-woven in Ecuador and can take months to complete. The company releases two seasonal collections each year, spring-summer and autumn-winter, with designs for both men and women. Borsalino distributes its hats through nine flagship boutiques and roughly 550 retailers worldwide, and sales occur via its website. Since 2018, it has been owned by Haeres Equita, and in 2026 it opened a new store in Shanghai, its first location in that city.
