Boston Area Gleaners is a non-profit regional food systems organization working at the intersection of farming, food waste and food security. Our mission is to increase access to fresh fruits and vegetables across our communities while supporting our region’s farms and reducing systemic food waste. Throughout the growing season, we organize volunteer trips to local farms to harvest and pack high-quality fruits and vegetables that would otherwise be plowed under—and distribute that food to frontline agencies serving food-insecure families.
