The Botswana Tourism Organisation, abbreviated BTO, is a government-parastatal established by an Act of Parliament in 2003 to market the Botswana tourist product, grade and classify tourist accommodations, and promote investment in the sector. It was created to take marketing functions from the Department of Tourism and operate as an independent institution within the government framework. Headed by chief executive officer Ms Myra Sekgororoane, the organization maintains a leadership team responsible for marketing, business development, quality assurance, finance, human resources, projects administration, and corporate legal affairs, with offices in Botswana at Plot 50676, Fairgrounds Office Park, Block B. Its work focuses on engaging tourists and travel trade partners, accommodation providers, investors, and other stakeholders across Botswana's tourism ecosystem. Recent activity includes participation in ITB Berlin 2026, where Botswana Night, held with partners including Hotel 430 and Wilderness, brought together investors and media to discuss opportunities in the sector. The organization has pursued collaborations to improve access and development of air travel to Botswana, such as a 2024 memorandum of understanding with the Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana and other partners to launch the Botswana Air Access initiative.
