As the UK's first national charity focused on hen welfare, we work hard to give laying hens a voice. Our rehoming work gives tens of thousands of hens a second chance every year as they go on to become much-loved pets, happily clucking away in back gardens up and down the country.

Looking beyond the farm gate, our hens as therapy project explores the benefits hens have on humans, while our education programme is inspiring the next generation of kindhearted hen heroes. We work alongside veterinary professionals to ensure pet hens get the best treatment possible, while also engaging key stakeholders such as DEFRA to better disseminate key information to backyard hen keepers.

Since 2005 we have encouraged the public to help hens through their shopping baskets by purchasing high-welfare eggs, and therefore supporting the British egg industry. 

Our ultimate goal is to see consumers and food manufacturers buying only UK-produced free-range eggs, resulting in a strong British egg industry where all commercial laying hens enjoy a high quality of life.
