The British Science Association is a mid-sized nonprofit charity based in London, England. Founded in 1831, it focuses on widening access to science by developing engagement programmes for audiences that are underrepresented in or underserved by science. Its work spans the education sector, public-facing events and campaigns, and efforts to influence stakeholders to improve how science connects with society. The organization pursues a vision of a future in which science is more relevant, representative, and connected to society. In June 2026, the organization announced the appointment of Karen Blake as Head of EDIS and named Professor Dame Wendy Hall as honorary president. Earlier in 2026, it was selected as the future host of EDIS in partnership with the Francis Crick Institute and supported by Wellcome, and Ipsos partnered with the BSA on a UKRI-sponsored market research study.
