Buckley Public Service Scholars (BPSS) is a nonprofit program affiliated with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Established in 2003 as part of the Carolina Center for Public Service, it provides undergraduates with a framework to deepen their commitment to serving communities in North Carolina, across the United States, and globally. The program emphasizes public service and community engagement beyond traditional volunteering, exposing students to varied models of service, including policy-based work, organizational service, advocacy, fundraising, and philanthropy. It is based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and is open to full-time undergraduates who will have at least four semesters remaining. Within UNC's public service ecosystem, BPSS functions as a formal program that supports undergraduate students pursuing service-oriented work. Its focus is on experiential learning and engagement that extends beyond simple volunteering, addressing community needs at local, national, and international levels.
