Buffalo Prep is a small nonprofit based in Buffalo, New York, focused on expanding educational opportunities for students across Western New York. It operates outside the traditional school model, pursuing educational equity and racial justice through structured programs. Founded in 1989, Buffalo Prep has built a program pipeline that includes Prep Scholars Academy, Middle School Prep, High School Prep, College Prep, and Alumni Prep to support students from early adolescence through postsecondary education. The programs engage students starting around fifth grade and require time during summers, evenings, and weekends to advance academic achievement. Each year, Buffalo Prep serves more than 800 students and alumni, connecting rigorous academics with opportunities for civic engagement within the community. In March 2023, the organization announced a new program intended to help students reach their academic goals, reflecting an ongoing expansion of its offerings in the region.
