Burgan Bank Türkiye traces its origins to 1989, when it was founded as Tekfen Yatırım Finansman Bankası AŞ, a bank noted for its corporate and investment banking services in Turkey. In 2001 the institution broadened into commercial banking through the acquisition of Bank Ekspres, expanding its client base and lending capabilities for businesses. A strategic partnership with Eurobank EFG in 2006 led to the Eurobank Tekfen name, and after Burgan Bank Group acquired a controlling stake, it began operating under Burgan Bank AŞ in early 2013. Burgan Bank Türkiye is part of a Kuwait-based Burgan Bank Group, which maintains a regional footprint in North Africa and the Middle East through subsidiaries in Algeria, Iraq, Jordan, and Tunisia. Based in Istanbul, the bank serves Turkish clients with commercial and corporate banking services and has pursued digital payments and product innovations, such as the SoftPOS solution launched in 2025.
