White Collar Criminal Defense:

Recent criminal matters have included representation of:

*Washington State Auditor Troy Kelley in criminal fraud prosecution. After a six-week trial, the jury acquitted on the false statement charges and deadlocked on all remaining counts.

*President of Native-owned Canadian cigarette manufacturing company in federal tax evasion trial. We obtained a dismissal of all charges after jury hung on all counts.

*W.R. Grace and one if its managers in environmental criminal prosecution alleging obstruction of justice and knowing endangerment under the Clean Air Act arising out of company's operation of a vermiculite mine in Libby, Montana.  At trial, the company and all individuals were acquitted.

Civil Litigation:

Recent civil litigation matters have included:

*Fortune 100 company in pending consumer protection lawsuit brought by the Washington State Attorney General’s Office for alleged deceptive marketing practices in the sale of medical devices.

*Seattle pharmaceutical company in breach of contract and negligence action against its Medicare consultant; obtained $12 million settlement on behalf of client.

*King County, Washington in employment discrimination suit brought by former employee of wastewater treatment division.  After a four-week trial, the jury unanimously found in favor of King County on all claims.
