The California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) is a Division II intercollegiate athletic conference within higher education, founded in December 1938 and based in California. It comprises 12 member institutions, including Cal Poly Humboldt, Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State Dominguez Hills, Cal State East Bay, Cal State LA, Cal State Monterey Bay, Cal State San Bernardino, Cal State San Marcos, Chico State, San Francisco State, Sonoma State, and Stanislaus State. The conference has established a record of national success, tallying 155 NCAA Championships all time (103 for men, 52 for women), the most of any Division II conference. Since 2000, CCAA member institutions have claimed 23 national championships across 10 sports, with victories such as UC San Diego women’s soccer in 2000 and 2001, Cal Poly Pomona women’s basketball in 2001 and 2002, and more recently Cal State LA men’s soccer. In 2022, the conference launched a Development Program for women coaches in Division II and III, expanding opportunities within the sport. The organization maintains a relatively small administrative footprint across its California member institutions, and the official site is goccaa.org.
