The Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG) is a regional government agency that coordinates planning, advocacy, and service delivery across a 10-county area in Texas. Governed by elected officials from Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Fayette, Hays, Lee, Llano, Travis and Williamson counties, it provides programs in public safety training, homeland security, emergency communications, environmental planning, economic and community development, and elder, disability, and caregiver support. Its work is designed to help governments cooperate, maximize shared funding, and reduce duplication across the region, with operations based in Austin. CAPCOG has operated for more than four decades, serving as a regional planner and coordinator for local governments. In 2022 CAPCOG partnered with the Clean Air Force and Austin FC|Atlas to equip classrooms with air quality monitors, blending environmental education with regional air quality data collection.
