Capital Sanitary is a family-owned business committed to our customers since 1939. We strive to be the leading distributor of quality janitorial supplies, equipment, parts, and services while building mutually beneficial relationships with customers, suppliers, and employees. Founded by Tom Hanna, Doug Ireland joined in 1961 as the accountant and later transitioned to sales. In 1976, Doug purchased Capital Sanitary, expanding with the acquisition of Carroll Cleaning in 1982. We demonstrated resilience in 1993 when we overcame the challenges posed by the great flood with support from our community. In 2007, we moved to a new facility in Des Moines, consolidating all products under one roof. By 2009, our third location opened in Cedar Rapids, IA. In 2011, Scott Ireland, Doug's oldest son, became President, having worked in various roles since his teens. Our Omaha, Nebraska location opened in 2012, creating new market opportunities. In 2014, we celebrated our 75th anniversary, looking forward to continued service in our market area. On March 14, 2016, we acquired Dubuque-based Weber Paper Company, broadening our offerings in northeast Iowa, southwest Wisconsin, and northwest Illinois. Most recently, on May 1, 2024, we announced the acquisition of Omaha-based National Everything Wholesale, which is set to enable additional growth and improved coverage in the Nebraska territory and beyond.
