The Carbon Neutral Cities Alliance (CNCA) is an environmental services collaboration based in Washington, DC, comprising leading global cities. The alliance seeks to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 80 to 100 percent by 2050 or sooner, describing this as among the most aggressive city-scale reduction targets. CNCA has a small staff size reported at 2 to 10 employees and states that it processes data in accordance with its privacy policy. Historically, CNCA launched the Game Changer Fund in 2021 to support the development and adoption of policies intended to shift climate, biodiversity, and social systems. The organization has pursued partnerships and initiatives with external organizations, including collaboration with Arup on the City Handbook for Carbon Neutral Buildings in 2024 and a partnership with Laudes Foundation on a fund for European city policies concerning embodied carbon, circular material flows, and wood construction.
