CARE House of the Pee Dee is a children's advocacy center within the mental health care field that serves child abuse victims and their families. It offers forensic services, therapeutic programs, and prevention resources in a nurturing environment to support healing. The organization began in 2004 after law enforcement identified the need for a more effective facility for maltreatment cases, opened a permanent Florence location in 2006, and obtained nonprofit status later that year, followed by national accreditation in 2009. Since its founding, the center has helped more than 5,800 children. Its therapy lineup includes trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, a family-oriented cognitive behavioral therapy option, and parent-child interaction therapy, in addition to advocacy for every family that engages with its services. Based in Florence, South Carolina, CARE House serves the Pee Dee region.
