CASA of Larimer County is a 501(c)(3) dedicated to promoting a safe environment for all children in the 8th Judicial District. We provide a voice in court for abused and neglected children and a safe place in the community for conflict-free family interactions. We carry out our mission through two programs: the Court Appointed Special Advocates program and the Harmony House Visitation and Exchange program. The Court Appointed Special Advocates program trains community volunteers to advocate for children involved in Dependency & Neglect cases. Advocates participate in a 40-hour training that covers topics including child abuse and neglect, the juvenile court system, poverty, mental health and substance abuse, and other topics relevant to their work as a CASA. Trained advocates are assigned to cases and remain with the child(ren) for the duration of the case. They meet with the child weekly and investigate the situation so that they can recommend the best permanent placement for the child to the court. The Harmony House Supervised Visitation and Exchange program provides a safe neutral location in which children can visit their non-custodial family members. Staff, volunteers, and interns supervise and document all interactions. The Harmony House allows children to safely maintain invaluable relationships with their families and make memories that every child needs. CASA of Larimer County is an affiliate agency of Realities for Children.
