CatchLight is a nonprofit organization in the photography space that uses visual storytelling to inform audiences, connect communities, and foster social impact. Its Global Fellowship supports leading visual storytellers aiming to broaden audience engagement and drive community impact through inventive distribution. Its CatchLight Local initiative pairs with local newsrooms to strengthen trust and representation, offering the Local Fellowship—which creates full-time visual journalism roles—and the Local Visual Desk, a suite of shared services, training, and tools. Based in San Francisco, California, CatchLight runs the annual Visual Storytelling Summit, a gathering that brings together leaders from art, media, journalism, technology, and philanthropy for immersive dialogue. In May 2026, during the Summit, CatchLight announced its newest Global Fellows cohort: Gulshan Khan, Katie Baldwin Basile, and Michael Lees.
