Founded in 1948 in St. Louis, CK Supply is the Midwest’s largest independent, family-owned supplier of industrial gases, welding equipment, and dry ice. What started as a two-man operation has grown into a regional leader serving Missouri and Illinois with unmatched expertise, service, and reliability. Originally a distributor for National Cylinder Gas, CK Supply was purchased by Paul Dunn in 1955 and later led by his son Tom Dunn. Over the decades, the company expanded its footprint, services, and infrastructure—moving into a 120,000 sq. ft. headquarters and adding multiple branch locations, including Joplin, Kansas City, and Columbia. Today, CK operates across five key divisions: • Gases: Supplying industrial, specialty, and medical gases including oxygen, nitrogen, argon, and CO₂. • Welding: Offering equipment, consumables, automation tools, and expert support. • Dry Ice: As Missouri’s only in-state manufacturer, we produce pellets and blocks for shipping, cleaning, and food processing. • Service: In-house technicians provide repairs and maintenance to ensure customer uptime. • Training: Hands-on safety and welding training to keep teams skilled and compliant. Our mission is rooted in people. In 2021, CK became 49% employee-owned through an ESOP, reinforcing our culture of shared success and accountability. Leadership transitioned in 2025 to Brad Dunn (CEO), Ned Lane (Chairman), and Tony Ruppel (President), with the third Dunn generation still active in the business.
