The Center for Food Action is a small nonprofit based in Englewood, New Jersey, serving low-income individuals and families in northern New Jersey. It provides emergency seven-day food packages from eight sites and operates a homelessness prevention program that pays security deposits to prevent evictions or utility disconnections, with payments made directly to landlords or utility companies. The organization runs several programs to address hunger and related needs, including the Weekend Snack Pack, Thanksgiving food packages, a community garden on CFA's Englewood premises, Smile Pack kits, and Hunger Free New Jersey advocacy, and this year it launched the Action Beyond the Bag campaign to highlight its breadth of work. CFA emphasizes accommodating clients with special needs and broadening access to nutritious food across its northern New Jersey footprint. In May 2025 CFA hosted its 4th Annual 5K Run/Walk at Overpeck County Park in Ridgefield Park, drawing more than 200 participants, reflecting community involvement.
