The Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness (CREC) is an independent, not-for-profit organization based in Arlington, Virginia, that supports policy-makers worldwide with information and technical assistance to design and implement regional, job-creating economic strategies. It builds a data-driven picture of a region's economy by combining public and proprietary data with input from surveys, focus groups, and interviews. CREC helps clients articulate a long-term regional vision and develop workforce and economic development plans in collaboration with state and regional leaders. It also oversees six associations—C2ER, LMI, UEDA, DDAA, SEDE, and PMP—that advance related public policy and economic research efforts. In 2022, CREC partnered with NACo Financial Services Corporation to deliver training on ARPA's Local Fiscal Recovery Fund, illustrating its role in translating policy requirements into practical guidance.
