Founded in 2005 through the consolidation of two Greensboro visual arts groups in North Carolina, CVA operates as a non-profit focused on both education and exhibitions in the visual arts. It provides educational programs, exhibition opportunities, and community outreach to help emerging artists of all ages develop their talents and connect with audiences. Its aim is to make visual art offerings in Greensboro approachable, affordable, and inclusive for families and the broader community. Its programs are designed to reach families and emerging artists who want accessible paths into making or experiencing art, addressing barriers to participation. In 2019, CVA expanded its community engagement with Gate City Acres, an artist-designed mini-golf course launched to engage visitors in a playful, interactive arts experience.
