The Center for Watershed Protection is a nonprofit environmental services organization based in Fulton, Maryland, founded in 1992 to safeguard clean water resources and healthy ecosystems through responsible land and water management. Its staff—comprising scientists, planners, and other environmental professionals—provide technical guidance to municipalities, advocates, policymakers, and individuals seeking to implement clean water projects. Across its history, the Center has published more than 250 guidance materials and contributed to defining nutrient and sediment removal performance for urban Best Management Practices, while also monitoring the performance of several emerging practices. It has supported stormwater design manuals for nine states and the District of Columbia, reviewed development regulations for many communities, and developed management plans for nearly 100 watersheds across 12 states and U.S. territories. In late 2024, the organization announced a partnership with Severn River and SRA to build capacity for on-the-ground water quality and habitat restoration actions within the Severn River watershed.
