Centre Pompidou is a major cultural institution based in Paris, Île-de-France, notable for its architecture designed by Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers that opened in 1977. It houses one of Europe’s leading collections of modern and contemporary art, along with cinemas, theatres, educational spaces and a research library focused on 20th and 21st-century art, and it maintains partnerships with a public reading library and IRCAM, a music research institute. The centre functions as a platform that connects contemporary creation with society and attracts more than three million visitors each year, reflecting its role as a public hub for art and culture. In 2026 the institution announced a long-term partnership with Chanel, marking a significant collaboration with a cultural partner. Earlier, the Centre Pompidou extended its international presence through a 2023 agreement to establish Centre Pompidou Hanwha in South Korea, illustrating its broader geographic reach while continuing to operate from its Paris base.
