The DisImpactor® is a single use, disposable device for the treatment of a confirmed fecal impaction. It provides improved access to the fecal load and combines enema solution infusion with physical extraction, allowing the caregiver to relieve the impaction quickly without the increased pain of digital disimpaction with a gloved finger. The DisImpactor is designed to be used as a 3-part system. The first and second DisImpactors are used to initially debulk the fecal impaction. These two passes create a cavity or tunnel in the fecal mass. The third DisImpactor can now effectively be used to introduce an enema, further removing the mass, essentially providing a “1:2 punch.” In addition to being more effective, the DisImpactor has proven to reduce the embarrassment and discomfort for both the patient and the caregiver.
