Communities In Schools (CIS) of the San Fernando Valley & Greater Los Angeles is an agency that delivers dropout prevention and intervention services. It is a local affiliate of Communities In Schools, Inc., the nation’s leading community-based dropout prevention organization. Over the past 20 years, CIS San Fernando Valley/Greater Los Angeles has been helping at-risk youth stay in school and steer away from gang involvement.

CIS focuses on addressing two major community problems: the dropout crisis and youth violence. School dropout crisis is not just an educational issue; numerous studies show that many kids drop out of school because of gang-involvement. To address this issue, CIS provides services that focus on educational enrichment, prevention, intervention, community empowerment, job development, and mentoring.
