Headquartered in Chongqing, China, Changan Automobile is an automotive OEM.  The company operates 12 production locations and 32 automotive related plants. The Changan US R&D Center is a US-based subsidiary, wholly owned by Changan. The Center, which began operations in January 2011, is the first advanced research and development facility to be established by a Chinese automaker in Michigan. It joins Changan's other global R&D centers located in Turin, Italy; Yokohama, Japan; Birmingham, England, and Chinese centers located in Chongqing, Shanghai, and Beijing.
