Changan Automobile is a Chinese automotive original equipment manufacturer with a global footprint that includes multiple production locations and related plants, producing more than 2.95 million vehicles annually. It maintains joint ventures with Suzuki, Ford, Mazda, and PSA Peugeot-Citroën. The Changan US R&D Center is a wholly owned subsidiary based in Plymouth, Michigan, and began operations in January 2011 as the first advanced research and development facility established by a Chinese automaker in Michigan. As part of a broader network of Changan R&D centers, the Plymouth facility connects with centers in Turin, Yokohama, Birmingham, and in Chongqing, Shanghai, and Beijing. It provides research and development capabilities to support the parent company's product development and technology strategy across its global operations. In 2024, Changan USA introduced two electric vehicle models, the Deepal S07 and L07.
