Charleston Parks Conservancy is a nonprofit organization based in Charleston, South Carolina, dedicated to helping residents connect with the area’s parks and collaboratively shape public spaces that strengthen the community. The group operates with a relatively small staff and focuses on supporting and improving 26 parks, gardens, and trails across the Charleston region. A major ongoing effort is the Colonial Lake revitalization, launched in August 2024 to reimagine three acres of gardens as a resilient, environmentally adaptive landscape, with Molly Hendry hired as lead designer for the next phase in December 2024. In 2025 the conservancy hosted its 15th annual Party for the Parks, raising $275,000 to support the ongoing care and enhancement of its park network. The organization also launched the Charleston Trees program in 2023 to encourage private-property tree planting, and its programming has earned national recognition, including the 2024 Lehman Award for Park Foundation Excellence from the National Association of Park Foundations for its Teddy Bear Picnic.
