The Chartered Institute of Ergonomics & Human Factors (CIEHF) is a membership organisation for those either qualified or interested in ergonomists and human factors (‘E/HF’). CIEHF is based in the UK but open to qualified and non-qualified joiners in any part of the world. By ‘Designing for People’, E/HF seeks to recognise human mental and physical capability and to design equipment and processes around individuals in order to make the most of human capability. CIEHF is the only professional body in the world able to award the qualification of Chartered Ergonomist. The aim of CIEHF to is make life, work and society better and safer by the application of E/HF. CIEHF reviews and develops the discipline, sets professional standards, approves education and training, supports continuous professional development, accredits members and maintains a Register of accredited consultancies who provide E/HF expertise and services. CIEHF also runs conferences, seminars, webinars and other events, publishes a magazine. ‘The Ergonomist’, six times per year and information about E/HF at www.ergonomics.org.uk
