Cheshire East Council is a unitary authority area, established in April 2009 under the local Government reorganisation. We provide hundreds of local services across Cheshire East to our 376,700 residents and 20,200 businesses. An ambitious council, we’re working hard to maximise the benefits of our strategic location between the Northern Powerhouse and the Midlands Engine and our proximity to Merseyside and Wales. We want to ensure Cheshire East is an area of choice to start, grow or locate a business and that we celebrate the diverse and distinctive places and communities in our borough, while working with our residents to help them achieve their aspirations. By 2020, our ambition is that our visitor economy will be worth £1bn. We currently welcome around 16 million visitors a year – generating £895m.
