China Mobile Hong Kong Company Limited ("CMHK") is the wholly-owned subsidiary of China Mobile Limited (HKEx: 941), which ranks 58th on the Fortune Global 500. CMHK was incepted in January 1997 and was the first mobile network operator to launch PCS services in Hong Kong. CMHK’s 4G LTE service covers two major standards LTE FDD and TD-LTE, and launched the world’s first converged commercial LTE network in 2012. In 2016, CMHK became the first mobile operator* to provide 4G network coverage in 16 tunnels throughout Hong Kong and successfully launched its 4.5G mobile network in November 2016. In 2017, CMHK became the world's first operator to launch commercial 2.3GHz TDD Massive MIMO technology.
CMHK is committed to the development of its 5G network. In Nov 2019 it obtained various 5G spectrum, making it one of the local mobile service operators that has acquired the most 5G resources to date and became the first mobile network operator accomplished 5G Standalone (SA) network test. CMHK launched 5G service in Apr 2020, committed to combining 5G with new technologies, such as artificial intelligence, IoT, cloud computing and big data, integrating 5G applications in different industries, and promoting the construction and development of smart city groups in the Greater Bay Area.
