Christians in the Visual Arts (CIVA) is a nonprofit organization focused on exploring the relationship between serious art and serious faith. Based in Wenham, Massachusetts, the group emphasizes a threefold commitment—creative calling, devotion to the church, and presence in culture—supporting artists, arts professionals, critics, designers, historians, theologians, and related communities through conferences, exhibits, programs, and publications. Founded in 1979, CIVA aims to help its members pursue high-level professional work without compromising faith, while fostering collaboration among artists, the church, and secular culture and encouraging a Christian presence within the broader art world. The organization serves as a platform for sharing work and ideas, addressing field-specific challenges, and nurturing a constructive relationship between art and faith across cultural spheres.
