Based in Cincinnati, Ohio, the Cincinnati Health Department is a mid-sized public health agency with a long history dating to 1826 and a mission to protect and improve the health of local residents. It holds Federally Qualified Health Center status, enabling it to serve underserved populations within the community. Its care network comprises seven primary care sites, one standalone dental center, one standalone vision and dental center, and thirteen school-based health centers, collectively serving more than 40,000 patients each year. Operating in the hospitals and health care sector, CHD works to reduce health inequities connected with poverty and unemployment and to promote healthier living environments and social well-being. In 2025, CHD partnered with La Soupe, Hamilton County ReSource, CareSource, the Cincinnati Recreation Commission, and others to launch Cincy Freeze & Feed, a program that provides free meals to residents. CareSource supported the effort by purchasing and operating two large freezers to preserve donated meals, illustrating CHD's role in coordinating community health and social support initiatives.
