Circle de Luz is a Charlotte-based non-profit organization that has a significant impact on Latina youth.  We offer crucial support to an under-resourced population through programming, mentoring and scholarship funds

Each year we choose a new class of approximately eight Latina students in seventh grade and mentor them through their graduation from high school.  No other youth development or educational program in our area spends six years with its members in such a comprehensive way. During those six years we provide our girls and their families with nearly 70 annual program experiences. These programs are inspired by our developmental model which covers three core themes: Academic Support and College Readiness, Personal Development, and Community Awareness & Engagement.  

Circle de Luz’s mission is based on the notion that broadening our girls’ horizons will help develop new goals and skills and result in increased self-confidence as they tackle new lifestyles and challenges. As their confidence blossoms, it becomes easier for them to dream of a life filled with opportunities that once felt out of reach. They have many obstacles to overcome, but over the six years of respectful partnership with their families and carefully crafted group and individual mentoring, Circle de Luz has made great strides in proving to our program members that the future is wide open to them.
