Online packages transport industry has had to adapt to the unstoppable growth of e-commerce. Today, 70% of the Internet users perform their online purchases with an intense growth trend. This means that there is a significant increase in daily packages delivery and an impact in the environment, as each of these purchases result in around 80 kg. CO2 emissions. 

At the same time, the last mile delivery problem has not been solved yet. Carriers continue delivering packages like they did 50 years ago; on the one hand, couriers daily productivity is extremely low because of the first attempt delivery failure. On the other, online shoppers feel frustrated for not receiving their orders in time as they are not at home when the courier arrives, meaning that they will have to wait for the courier to come back in a second or third attempt.

Citibox helps people to receive its online shopping packages without any failed deliveries thanks to a smart locker system that allows the user to receive his packages even if he is not at home, also meaning not having to wait for the courier to arrive. Citibox is not a box nor a locker, we are a platform that connects their package recipients with the carriers. A new telecommunication business with a smart parcel box infrastructure installed in buildings with a universal and scalable technology.

We don’t charge any fees to online purchase recipients. Our business model is based on the savings to carriers because they will deliver all packages at the first attempt, and in a single point of delivery inside the building. That means an improvement in productivity and a large cost saving resulting in less travelling, less traffic and a daily CO2 reduction of 5.5 tons.
