Citizen University is a civic and social organization based in Seattle, Washington. Its mission is to cultivate a culture of powerful, responsible citizenship by offering programs that show how a healthy democracy depends on active, engaged citizens who work to influence public life. It envisions a mass, multiracial democracy with accountable institutions where everyone feels represented and knows how to contribute, and it emphasizes shared responsibility to strengthen community by reckoning with the past and planning for the future.
Its programs provide an experiential approach to topics such as civic empowerment, character in public life, and civic faith, inviting participation across backgrounds and beliefs. Since 2016, it has run Civic Saturdays as a regular forum for people to explore practical ways to live as engaged citizens.
