Citizens Bank was chartered on May 4, 1934. Due to the stock market crash in 1929 and the onset of the “Great Depression”, Federal Regulators required that the Bank of New Haven and Farmer’s Savings Bank consolidate to create Citizens Bank of New Haven. Citizens Bank operated at its Front Street Location from it’s beginning in 1934 until 1995. In 1977, the bank decided to build a new facility at the intersection of Highway 100 and Circle Drive. In 1985 Citizens Bank opened a loan production office in Gerald. A full-service Gerald location was opened in 1992, the Pacific location in 1996, the Washington location in 2000, and the Marthasville location in 2007. The Marthasville location ceased operation in 2014. Today, Citizens Bank is conveniently located throughout Franklin County, operating full-service banks in New Haven, Gerald, Pacific and Washington. Since its inception in 1934 Citizens Bank of New Haven, which officially changed its name to Citizens Bank in 1995, has been proud of its ability to operate, as a community owned, independent bank serving its communities with a variety of full-featured products, which include deposit, credit mortgage, and investment opportunities.
