The City of Concord is a mid-sized municipal government in the San Francisco Bay Area, located in Contra Costa County, California. It covers about 31.13 square miles and, according to the 2010 census, has 122,067 residents. As the largest city in Contra Costa County, Concord sits in a central location that provides ready access to San Francisco, Napa Valley, Silicon Valley, and Sacramento, supporting residents' access to a wide range of cultural and recreational opportunities. In February 2026, the City promoted Kit Jory to Public Works Director, effective February 16, 2026. The city has pursued economic development through public arts initiatives, including its Creative Concord program, which earned the Helen Putnam Award for Excellence in Economic Development through the Arts in 2024.
