Welcome to the City of Maple Valley! Whether you’re a longtime resident or new to the Greater Maple Valley area, we welcome you. Historically known for its coal, timber, and railroad industries, Maple Valley was officially incorporated on August 31, 1997. Maple Valley is situated within 30 minutes of both Seattle and Tacoma. This extraordinary location allows its residents to enjoy all that our region has to offer. What makes Maple Valley a great place to live and work is its civically engaged residents, supportive community services, and the variety of outdoor recreation activities. The City Council consists of seven elected representatives from the City of Maple Valley. The Council establishes policy direction for the City, enacts ordinances and resolutions, maintains relationships and contacts in local, state, regional, and national associations, and generally provides leadership for the City and direction to the City Manager. The City Council also appoints various boards and commissions to maximize citizen input into the legislative process and to receive recommendations regarding specific policy options. Maple Valley is home to over 300 acres of park space, the regional Green to Cedar River Trail, and the crown jewel of the city, Lake Wilderness Park. Today, the 108-acre Lake Wilderness Park includes a swimming beach, an arboretum, a disc golf course, and sprawling grass fields that host events year-round.
